Police were called to assist Salem Police with a call in the northwest sector of Salem at 8:54 p.m. Monday to assist Salem Police Department in a child custody dispute until they concluded their investigation. Officers were called to the 300 block of Springdale Street, Salem, at 9:00 p.m. Nothing was found out of place, so Salem Police Department responded to assist in securing the house and the owner was notified. While dealing with the dog at large on the 400 block of Benton Road, Salem, officers found an open door at the rear of a residence. They could not locate the owner and had the Columbiana County Humane Society take possession of the dog until the owner was contacted and advised to pick up his dog. Upon arrival, they found a Labrador puppy running loose in the backyard of the caller’s residence. A report of a dog at large took officers to the 400 block of Benton Road, Salem, at 7:20 p.m. Police spoke with the owner of the big dog and observed no aggressive behavior from it, nor did they see it try to cross the invisible fence. She then stated that a large dog from the property crossed the invisible fence and attacked her dog and boyfriend. ![]() When they arrived, they spoke with the caller who said that her little dog had gotten out and run across the road onto another property. Officers responded to the 1100 block of Prospect Street, Salem, for a report of a dog attacking another dog at 7:30 p.m. ![]() Saturday for a report of a possible reckless driver leaving the Damascus Dollar General, but found no one. Police were dispatched to US 62 at 6:02 p.m.
